RAMS and REMS are Windows Services that run in the background-ProFicient does not need to be running for RAMS and REMS to function. The system automatically collects quality data, analyzes it, and then triggers other systems to respond in pre-defined ways to start addressing quality issues.

RAMS and REMS monitor selected data streams and perform control chart analyses for specified control limit and specification limit violations. When a specific event is detected, REMS launches a pre-defined response from user-specified files or applications. RAMS and REMS monitor automated data values regardless of the data source, offering enhanced functionality over imported "out of specification" and "out of control" tests by allowing the user to pre-define any of the control chart rules for analysis.
